About Ron Shegda

Yes. There is a positive role for government in Pennsylvania and America.

Yet let me be clear. The family exists before the state.

Ron Shegda is a life-long Pennsylvania resident. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he graduated 3rd in his class from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1973. He then graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

He studied urban policy, environmental policy and city planning at Tufts University, MIT and Harvard. He received his Master of Arts from Tufts in 1984. Ron's graduate thesis, The Regenerative Economy, was published by Friends for Community Development and later by Rodale Press' The Regeneration Project, of which he was a co-founder.

Ron has been a micro-business owner in the Lehigh Valley since 1986, concentrating on writing, publishing and marketing for the region's small businesses. Ron's Opinion Columns and Letters have appeared frequently in nearly every Lehigh Valley newspaper for 20 years.

Having served on Hellertown's Planning Commission 4 Years, Ron introduced Resolutions that were unanimously adopted for Main Street Pedestrian Safety and against the Overcrowding of Properties by Redefining Hellertown's Rear Dwelling Ordinance.  He has voted in favor of new, wholesome businesses locating on Main Street, especially small, family enterprises.  Ron stood up in favor of a STRONG anti-smut business ordinance in town. He also introduced a Resolution warning of traffic impacts from the nearby casino development.

Ron is active in the Chamber of Commerce and local Council of Governments.  He is a familiar voice at both Hellertown Borough and Lower Saucon Township Council Meetings.  He also wrote in favor of the Citizenry concerning Easton's Charter change. Ron is a Citizen and sees elected Public Office as a responsibility from a ripened practice of citizenship in service to the common good.

This Ron's for You.
