— Congressman Charlie Dent
"Now more than ever, Republican principles of fiscal constraint, good government, and limited taxation are needed in Harrisburg . It is imperative we elect candidates that hold these core Republican values dear and remove the tax and spend Democrats from controlling the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Ron Shegda is a true fiscal conservative who will fight for Pennsylvania’s families."
— State Senator Rob Wonderling, 24th District

"Ron, I read your Announcement speech on the website—TWICE. I loved it. It was inspiring and a breath of much needed fresh air. Your message should resonate with the vast majority of citizens in our region, both Republican and Democrat. You need support!"
— Bill Platt , Esq.,

Seniors should vote for change in Harrisburg http://www.pennlive.com/expresstimes/stories/index.ssf?/base/news-3/1208059515148670.xml&coll=2 Sunday, April 13, 2008 I would like to express my concerns as a senior citizen for our state government. I will be 87 this year. Recently I received a "birthday card" and "senior update" from Robert L. Freeman, in Harrisburg, our current state representative. This expensive mailing was paid for at taxpayer expense! I am not fooled by Freeman's attempt at currying favor with senior voters like me. His taxpayer-paid brochure mentions how we can receive a few hundred dollars of senior property tax relief, money borrowed from the lottery fund, or a few dollars off a dog license. He doesn't mention how he has helped explode property taxes in the last 25 years by voting for tax increases and unaffordable budgets. Freeman has also helped to greatly expand the debt burden on Pennsylvanians. Although I may not live to bear these costs, he sends me a birthday card and places billions and billions of dollars in debt on our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This is why I support a change in Harrisburg. Candidates such as Ron Shegda truly represent us seniors and citizens who know how to run government like we do our households. We can't spend money we do not have, and we have to save and invest our money. I encourage every senior citizen to vote for Shegda in the April 22 primary and in the general election in November. Stella Pasternak Hellertonian will seek PA House seat A Republican write-in candidate for State Representative in 2006, Hellertown resident Ronald Shegda hopes that his second bid for the seat currently held by Rep. Robert Freeman (D-136) will prove to be the charm.Shegda formally declared his candidacy for State Representative from the 136th District, which includes Hellertown, at a breakfast press conference on Feb. 16. "Pennsylvania is in trouble. We're up to our necks in debt-maxed out like a family on multiple credit cards," he said. "I'm really honored to have this kind of support," Shegda remarked.

"We need to reverse course and invest in small and micro businesses so we can renew our state's economy," he added.
Shegda, himself a small business owner and entrepreneur, said that fiscal issues represent some of the greatest challenges which state legislators will have to address when a new House is seated in 2009.
"My opponent and (Governor Ed Rendell) have foolishly supported tax increases and excessive General Fund budgets, along with unprecedented borrowing and bankrupt public pension plans," he declared. "As a native Pennyslvanian, active citizen and long-term small business person, I stand up for all taxpayers in our District who have paid too many taxes for far too long," he added.
Other priorities for Shegda, who is currently a member of the Hellertown Planning Commission, will include tax credit support for families who choose to enroll their children in private schools and a moratorium on state debt he said at the conference, which was held at The Meadows in Lower Saucon Township.
Acknowledging the fact that he will have to reach out to Democrats in order to win the district, Shegda told about 20 supporters and Republican elected officials that a "Democrats for Ron" committee is already being formed.
"My campaign will need the support of all those Reagan Democrats out there," he emphasized.
Supporting his candidacy throughout the campaign will be his Campaign Manager, Judy Davidson, he told those present.
Davidson, a member of the regional Republican Jewish Coalition's Board of Directors, said that she and Shegda were introduced to one another while campaigning for the former Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson.
"Honesty, integrity, and unity Ron does embody those things," she said, adding that he has a "vested" interest in the region.
Also at the breakfast to lend their support to Shegda were Northampton County Republican Committee Chairman Bob Kilbanks and Lehigh County Commissioner Glenn Eckhart.
The breakfast was highlighted by a performance by an a capella group, The Gilbert Sisters, who sang "God Bless America" and a song composed especially for Shegda's campaign.
Upcoming events for Shegda will include an April 6 dinner at the Young Republicans Club in Easton.
State Rep. Curt Schroder (R-155) will be the honored guest at the dinner.
On June 14, in honor of Flag Day, Shegda plans to host a family picnic featuring Dapper Dan the Clown at Hugh Moore Park in Easton.
Information about Shegda's campaign, which is employing the slogan "This Ron's For You," is available online at www.ronshegda.com.
